If you’re interested in body positivity then you’ve come to the right place! I’m committed to helping you cultivate body positivity so that you can live a more joyful and authentic life.
But first, let’s get some things straightened out.
What is body positivity?
There is no one size fits all definition for body positivity, it means something different to everyone. However if I had to define it, I’d say it is the notion or idea that all bodies deserve love, respect and kindness, regardless of what society and culture say your body should or shouldn’t be.
What do you mean all bodies?
Just that! If your body is a size 32, it deserves love, respect and kindness. If you’re in eating disorder recovery, your body deserves love, respect and kindness. If your body is disabled, it deserves love, respect and kindness. If your body is black, white, short, tall, fat, skinny, scarred, chronically ill, trans, lgbt, whatever, it still deserves love, respect and kindness. Body positivity is for everybody!
What does a body positive life look like?
A body positive life looks like this; free! It’s not feeling ashamed of your body. It’s not wishing your body looked like someone else’s. It’s not feeling under pressure to look a certain way. It’s embracing and celebrating your body, including the parts of it that you used to hate. It’s understanding the ways in which our society programmes us to feel ashamed of our bodies. It’s supporting and celebrating other body positive women. It’s feeling free to express yourself through style and fashion without fear or self doubt. It’s living a life free from body shame and rejecting the beauty standards pushed on you by society.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just lose weight?
Maybe, but how’s that been working out for you so far? I don’t claim to know what’s best for everyone, and I’m not here to tell you that you shouldn’t lose weight. But I am here to tell you that no matter what size you are, you don’t need to lose weight. And you certainly don’t need to wait until you’ve reached some weightloss target before you start loving yourself. You can learn to love your body right now, just as it is in this moment.
OK, I’m sold. What do I do now?
Great! If you’re ready and willing to open your mind to body positivity then I will do everything I can to help. Because I passionately believe that we could all benefit from hating ourselves less, and loving ourselves more.
